Retinal Dystrophy Clinic
Retinal Dystrophy Clinic
The Retinal Dystrophy Clinic provides comprehensive diagnostic and management services for patients affected with retinal dystrophies, including Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), Cone and Cone-rod dystrophy, Stargardt disease, Macular dystrophy, Usher syndrome, Congenital stationary night blindness and others.
Our Approach
We are one of a handful of subspecialty clinics nationwide dedicated to the diagnosis and management of retinal dystrophies. Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes fellowship-trained retinal dystrophy specialists, an ocular genetics specialist, vitreoretinal surgeons trained in gene therapy surgery, electrophysiologists, genetic counselors, researchers, and low vision optometrists; all with extensive training in retinal dystrophies. Our team also diagnoses and manages autoimmune retinopathy, including cancer-associated and melanoma-associated retinopathy, in collaboration with a rheumatologist who specializes in retinal disease.
In addition to providing comprehensive examination and evaluation by a physician, our clinic offers a full range of electrophysiology testing, visual function testing, imaging and photography services, on-site genetic counseling, and genetic testing. Many of our patients benefit from care through our Visual Rehabilitation Program, where they receive low vision devices, mobility training, and other personalized visual rehabilitation services. We are on the cutting-edge of treatment for these conditions and are proud to offer FDA-approved gene therapy as well as access to clinical trials.
