Brain & Spine Vascular Program (Pediatric)
The Pediatric Brain & Spine Vascular Program at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital combines the expertise of pediatric neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, neurologists, and pediatric intensivists to treat children with abnormalities of the blood vessels in the brain and spinal cord.
Our Approach
Untreated vascular anomalies in children may result in bleeding, ischemic stroke, or heart failure. The team at University of Michigan Health has extensive experience treating these complex diseases though both endovascular and open surgical therapies.
Who We Treat
Some of the abnormalities we treat include:
- Abnormal outpouchings in the walls of blood vessels (aneurysms)
- Abnormal connections between arteries and veins (arteriovenous malformations)
- Congenital blockage of the arteries to the brain (Moyamoya disease)
- Other vascular problems
