Cerebrovascular Program
Cerebrovascular Program
At the U-M Health Cerebrovascular Program, our expert team provides specialized care for conditions affecting brain blood flow, like aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.
Our Approach
Our institution stands out as the sole facility in Michigan hosting two neurosurgeons dually-trained in neuroendovascular surgery and open cerebrovascular surgery. They work shoulder to shoulder with two interventional neuroradiologists to create an interdisciplinary team of 4 specialists with advanced training in the minimally invasive endovascular techniques. This truly collaborative team of specialists discuss their most challenging cases in a weekly interdisciplinary cerebrovascular conference - making U-M Health one of only a handful of hospitals in the entire country with such a large team of highly trained specialists.
Utilizing advanced surgical and endovascular techniques, we aim to quickly restore brain function and improve patient outcomes. Central to our cutting-edge approach is our NeuroInterventional Radiology suite — a state-of-the-art space uniquely designed for the integrated diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, allowing for immediate transition from imaging to intervention. This suite significantly reduces the time from diagnosis to treatment and is instrumental in improving the precision and safety of minimally invasive procedures. Our team is dedicated to the treatment of both urgent and non-urgent cerebrovascular disorders, including strokes, brain hemorrhages, aneurysms, and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
