Women's Health: Classes & Support
Women's Health: Classes & Support
The teams at University of Michigan Health Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital partner to offer several classes and support groups for prospective parents and new parents.
Classes & Groups
The Baby Safe class is a 50-minute video created by the Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention team at U-M Health. It shares simple, practical tips to help keep your baby safe during their first year. You'll learn about safe sleep, home safety, car seat safety, and how to prevent common injuries as your baby grows.
To request access to the Baby Safe class or get more information, email the Injury Prevention Program at [email protected] or call 734-763-2251.
We will be pausing tours over the summer due to high volumes on our labor and delivery floor. We apologize for the inconvenience. Until we can return to offering in-person tours again, please check out our virtual tour on the Delivering at Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital webpage.
We are offering a free, in-person, two-hour breastfeeding class for U-M Health
patients. The ideal time to attend is during the third trimester (between 32–36 weeks gestation). We encourage you to bring your support person (one guest) with you. We also ask that you bring the book you received ("Your Guide to Pregnancy, Birth & Parenting") as well as a baby doll or teddy bear to use as we demonstrate various positions.
We will cover topics such as breastfeeding basics, normal newborn behavior, practical techniques, supply & demand, and additional support. Once you register, you'll receive a confirmation email from us within one week. Classes will take place at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital – 9th floor. Take the elevators to the 9th floor and the guest service clerk will direct you to the Von Voigtlander Clinic waiting area.
There will be two classes per month, on the second and fourth Sundays at 2 p.m. There are three months in 2026 (January, April and September) when we need to adjust class dates from the 4th Sunday to the 3rd Sunday due to space conflicts. The form will have the correct dates.

frustration, guilt, etc.
Our support groups are currently facilitated via Zoom by Lesley Farrell, LMSW, and Lindsay Brennan, LMSW, CST.

Experiencing a pregnancy or newborn loss of any kind can be very emotional and difficult. The Pregnancy and Newborn Loss Support Group is for mothers, fathers, relatives, and friends – anyone affected by a miscarriage, stillbirth, early infant death, medical termination or other loss.
Our group facilitators have experience with pregnancy and newborn loss and provide a setting where you can share your experiences, give and receive support, and learn to cope with feelings about your loss. Whether you choose to share with the group or just listen, you are encouraged to attend.
*Please note that due to the emotional nature of discussions, it is requested that arrangements are made for children so they are not visible on the Zoom meeting.
Date, Time & Location
The group meets virtually to provide support and help connect those who have experienced a pregnancy or newborn loss. Groups are held the second Tuesday of every month, 6:30 – 8 p.m. Register for the Pregnancy and Loss Support Group.
Groups are free, non-denominational and open to all. You do not have to be a U-M Health patient to attend. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
Cancellations
While not anticipated, if the group needs to be cancelled for any reason (lack of registration, ill facilitator, etc.), the group will be cancelled by 2 p.m. the day of the scheduled group. Those registered will receive a cancellation notice via email.
