Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology Clinic
Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology Clinic
Since the early 1990s, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital has had a dedicated clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses are committed to providing family-centered care with compassion and respect. We work to develop a plan of care that meets the needs of each patient and their family.
Our Approach
We evaluate and treat patients from infancy and childhood through adolescence and young adulthood, focusing on the physical and emotional needs of young patients, and providing support in their transition from pediatric care to adult gynecologic care.
As many of the diseases we treat require a coordinated approach, we work closely with other pediatric services, such as hematology, endocrinology, dermatology, urology and other specialties. All our physicians are fellowship-trained specialists in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. This means that all our doctors have obtained an additional two years of specialized medical and surgical training to care for pediatric and adolescent patients.
Our faculty have also received the Focused Practice Designation in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology from the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Patients also benefit from access to our social worker and specialized nursing staff, as well as sex therapists trained to work with children and adolescents.
Services
We are proud to offer nurturing, confidential and evidence-based care. We offer comprehensive diagnostics and the latest therapeutic services for conditions affecting pediatric and adolescent patients’ reproductive health. We also offer first-time gynecologic exams and IUD placements with sedation if needed, as well as Pap smear consultations for young patients.
Our group provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for the full spectrum of gynecological issues, including:
- Obstructive anomalies of the female reproductive system, such imperforate hymen (membrane covers vaginal opening) or transverse vaginal septum (fibrous tissue that blocks the vagina)
- Anomalies of the uterus
