Primary Care 24-Hour Nurse Triage Line
Primary Care 24-Hour Nurse Triage Line
There’s never a convenient time to be sick, but University of Michigan Health patients can be confident that their care team is never more than a call – or a click – away. Even at night and on weekends, U-M Health is available to you and your family through our 24-Hour Nurse Triage Line phone service and our convenient E-Visit program.
For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911.
How to Access the Triage Line
For patients under the care of a U-M Health primary care provider who are experiencing new clinical symptoms, our nursing triage phone service is available around the clock.
To access the nurse triage phone service, call your clinic using the clinic’s standard phone number, and follow the directions to be directed to a live registered nurse.
What to Expect When You Call
When you call, a U-M Health registered nurse will:
- Provide a general assessment of your symptoms
- Determine an appropriate level of care for your symptoms and help you to manage these symptoms at home or while awaiting treatment
- Discuss additional symptoms to watch for
- Share all care advice that was discussed on the MyUofMHealth Patient Portal
The nursing service does not provide:
- Access to speak with your specific provider
- Prescription renewal assistance
- Requests for referrals and/or authorizations
- Management of tests or lab results
- Help rescheduling or cancelling existing appointments
To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please use the MyUofMHealth Patient Portal or call your clinic during normal business hours. You should also call your clinic to get direct assistance with prescription renewals, requests for referrals and/or authorization and management of tests or lab results.
E-Visits
An E-Visit is a convenient way to receive health care advice and treatment for common medical conditions. With a few clicks to log in to your MyUofMHealth Patient Portal account, you can answer a short survey about your symptoms and receive a written care plan, with prescriptions when appropriate.
Patient Portal Sign-Up
The MyUofMHealth Patient Portal is a convenient way to manage your health information online. Connecting to the portal gives you access to your medical care when and where it’s convenient for you— 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
