When an injury happens, whether you’re an active person, an amateur or a pro athlete you need experienced providers on your team. Our sports medicine specialists care for athletes of all ages and in all activities by bringing together multidisciplinary experts who will create a personalized plan for you.

You’ll find our sports medicine experts in various locations across Ann Arbor, Brighton and, coming in spring of 2027, our newest facility in Troy. You can visit our UM Health–Sparrow and UM Health–West websites for more Michigan-based sports medicine services. Sports Physical Therapy: In conjunction with your sports medicine physician, our skilled team of therapists will build out a comprehensive care plan to treat your injury or condition.

Our Athletic Trainers Outreach Program contracts with high school, elite, and college sports teams and athletic development programs.

Specialty Sports Rehab Services: We will coordinate additional treatments, which may include blood-flow restriction therapy, dry needling, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, kinesiotaping, myofascial decompression (therapy cupping), Alter-G and aquatic therapy.

Advancing Sports Medicine Care, Research & Education

Forbes Sports Medicine Institute

A generous gift from Nathan and Catherine Forbes, longtime supporters of the University of Michigan, will establish an interdisciplinary institute to advance sports medicine, orthopaedic, and physical medicine and rehabilitative care, research, and education across the state.

Named in the couple’s honor, the Nathan and Catherine Forbes Sports Medicine Institute will be based in a new state-of-the-art facility in Ann Arbor.
