Michigan Lower Extremity Services (MiLES) Multidisciplinary Foot Clinic
The Podiatry program specializes in managing patients with foot disease caused by diabetes and patients with severe foot complications that can lead to ulcers and amputations. Diabetes-related foot complications are the most common cause of non-traumatic amputations in the United States and 80% of these amputations could be prevented with education and surveillance. When patients have complications, however, they need providers who specialize in management. There is strong evidence that a multidisciplinary team approach is the best way to serve and have an impact in improving outcomes.
