At the Weiser Family Center for Breast Cancer, we recognize the profound impact that breast cancer can have on the lives of patients and their family and friends. Our Peer Mentoring Program connects newly diagnosed patients with breast cancer survivors, offering personal support, guidance, and a compassionate ear during their treatment journey. Our Peer Mentors are trained through Michigan Medicine’s Office of Patient Experience.

• Participants: Open to any patient with newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Mentors: Breast cancer survivors who are at least one-year post-treatment and have completed our training program.

How to Get Involved

• For Mentors: If you're a breast cancer survivor interested in becoming a mentor, please reach out to your provider to learn more about the training process and requirements.

• Personalized Matching: Patients are paired with mentors based on factors such as cancer type, age, treatment experience, and personal preferences.
• Ongoing Support: Regular check-ins and communication between mentors and participants to ensure continuous support.
• Training for Mentors: Comprehensive training covering topics like active listening, confidentiality, and providing emotional support.
