Gender Services (Pediatric)
C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is committed to providing a safe and affirming health care environment for all children and families.
We provide a variety of mental health and other support services for transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse children and young adults.
In response to unprecedented legal and regulatory threats to our clinicians and our institution, we no longer provide gender-affirming medical therapies or surgical procedures for patients under age 19.
A full spectrum of gender-affirming therapies and procedures remains available for patients age 19 and over. Visit our Comprehensive Gender Services Program for more information about services for patients age 19 and over.
We understand how impactful the limited availability of gender-affirming medical services is to many of our child and young adult patients.
Your safety and well-being is important to us, and we are committed to supporting you. We have increased access to mental health services for patients affected by reduced availability of gender-affirming care in our communities.
Group Therapy Services
Our gender services support team offers weekly virtual (video-based) coping therapy groups for children, young adults and their parents or guardians to be themselves, learn support strategies, and find community.

Appointment Information
We continue to care for our gender diverse patients, providing all appropriate care other than puberty blockers, gender-affirming hormones and gender-affirming surgical procedures for children under age 19.
