The prenatal and postpartum care we provide at University of Michigan Health is called MiPATH (Michigan Plan for Appropriate Tailored Healthcare in Pregnancy). It is designed to support your specific needs during pregnancy and includes medical care, education and social support. You can learn more about our prenatal care model and what to expect when you come to your prenatal appointments.
You have many choices when it comes to your pregnancy care — and we’re thrilled you’ve chosen the care team at U-M Health to support you along the way. Our team is here for you and your baby from the very beginning of your pregnancy through delivery and the postpartum period. Your care team may include obstetricians, family physicians, certified midwives, and maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy specialists), if needed.

Postpartum Care
Welcoming a new baby is a life-changing experience and the healing period following childbirth—known as the postpartum period—can bring its own set of challenges for families, including physical, emotional and practical challenges. Our postpartum patient education empowers new parents with the information and resources needed to care for themselves and a baby during this important time.
