Pediatric Psychology

Pediatric psychologists help families and caregivers manage a child's behavioral or developmental issues, along with providing support to children diagnosed with a chronic or acute health condition.

Your Michigan Answer for Pediatric Psychology

When your child is struggling with a behavioral or developmental issue, it can affect the entire family. And often a child who has been diagnosed with a chronic or acute health condition needs support to manage the pain, depression, anxiety or behavioral disorders that may accompany their condition.

Pediatric psychologists at the University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital address a wide range of developmental, behavioral, and growth- and illness-related issues affecting children, adolescents and their families.

We work within specialized medical teams across all areas of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital to maximize the overall health and well-being of children and their families using principles of behavioral science.

In addition to our work within the hospital, we also offer individual and family-based outpatient services. These services include behavioral assessment, treatment and prevention services for children and adolescents with acute and chronic health conditions, along with evaluation and treatment of depression, anxiety or behavioral disorders that can go along with these conditions.

We also support families in helping children and adolescents stick to medical regimens, including medications, nutrition and exercise, and help develop the coping skills needed to adjust to a medical diagnosis. For painful conditions, we offer behavioral treatment and biofeedback.

Our psychologists serve as integral team members within a number of multidisciplinary clinics. When your family needs support related to your child’s chronic or acute medical condition, trust the experts at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.
