Genitourinary Radiology
Genitourinary Radiology
Our Genitourinary (GU) Radiology team provides advanced imaging to evaluate conditions affecting the urinary and reproductive systems. We work closely with referring physicians to deliver accurate, timely diagnoses.
Our Approach
At U-M Health, our GU Radiology service is part of the Abdominal Division within the Department of Radiology. All studies are interpreted by board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologists who specialize in imaging of the abdomen and pelvis.
We collaborate closely with specialists across disciplines—including the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for hysterosalpingography—to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care. Our imaging protocols are designed to minimize radiation exposure by using the lowest dose necessary while maintaining high-quality results.
With fully digital imaging and state-of-the-art equipment, we perform studies more efficiently and deliver faster turnaround times. Physicians can securely access images and reports electronically, supporting seamless communication and patient-centered care.
Testing
Our team performs a comprehensive set of contrast and fluoroscopic studies, including:
- Excretory urography (imaging of the kidneys, ureters, and bladder)
- Cystography (x-ray study of the bladder)
- Voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) (imaging the bladder and urethra during urination)
- Retrograde urethrography (evaluation of the urethra using contrast dye)
- Hysterosalpingography (x-ray exam of the uterus and fallopian tubes, performed with Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty)
