Floor Map Description

 

Orientation and General Layout

  • Map Context: This guide describes Level 6 of the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Healthcare Pavilion (University of Michigan Health Michigan Medicine), which houses Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Spine.
  • Compass Orientation: According to the directional indicator, North is oriented to the top of this map layout. To align with standard directions while reading this text: North is Up, South is Down, West is Left, and East is Right.
  • Corridor Pathways: The floor plan features a light gray central waiting area and corridor interfacing with a large dark blue zone to the North and West, and a medium-blue Pre-Op/PACU zone to the West and Southwest.

Central Corridor and Amenities (Center Region of Map)

  • Waiting Area: The main accessible hallway space is the light gray Waiting zone, marked by an information/welcome desk question mark icon (?).
  • Central Elevator/Service Access: Directly North from the Waiting text, a narrow light gray alcove extends upward, ending at a square icon containing the number 14.
  • Restrooms: On the eastern edge of this light gray area, just southeast of the Waiting text, there are two public restroom icons (male/female stick figures) arranged vertically.

Pre-Op/PACU and West Wing (West and Southwest Regions of Map)

East Wing (East Region of Map)

  • East Area: A large, solid dark blue area extends across the entire northern and eastern regions of the floor plan, sitting directly East of the central Waiting area and restroom cluster.
  • Stairs (Southeast): A blue square containing a stairs symbol (white zigzag lines) is located in the far southeastern corner of this dark blue zone.
