Retina Service
The Retina Service at the U-M Kellogg Eye Center diagnoses and treats a range of eye diseases that affect the back of the eye (retina). With a full spectrum of advanced treatment options and an experienced team of experts, we are a referral center for complex and difficult-to-treat eye conditions.
Our Approach
The Retina Service is committed to delivering expert, compassionate care for diseases affecting the back of the eye. Our specialists offer comprehensive medical and surgical treatments for a wide range of conditions, including retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal degenerations, and ocular inflammation. We also care for patients with complex cases referred from other providers, including those with intraocular tumors and hereditary retinal diseases.
Our team uses advanced diagnostic tools, including electrophysiological and psychophysical testing, to assess how well your retina, optic nerve, and visual pathways are working. Standardized A- and B-scan ultrasounds are available either as part of a full consultation or as a standalone diagnostic service to help eye specialists diagnose and monitor a variety of eye conditions. For more information, visit Diagnostic Visual Electrophysiology Service.
Our goal is to provide personalized, state-of-the-art care that helps preserve and improve your vision.
Advanced Testing to Support Your Eye Care
When you get your eyes checked at the U-M Kellogg Eye Center, you may be sent to specialized testing areas like ophthalmic ultrasound, ophthalmic photography, or diagnostic visual electrophysiology. These advanced tests will provide more detailed information than a regular eye exam to help detect problems early, confirm a diagnosis, and guide your treatment plan.
Services
We diagnose, treat, and manage many different eye conditions and diseases in our clinics. The eye conditions we treat are not limited to the list provided here.
