Weight Navigation Program
Weight Navigation Program
Obesity is a challenging, complex disease. Everyone’s needs are different, and no single treatment or program will be right for everyone. University of Michigan Health offers many weight control programs, but knowing which one to choose may be difficult.
When individuals and their primary care providers need guidance, the Weight Navigation Program can provide expert assistance from a physician trained in obesity medicine. Our program helps individuals find a path to effective weight loss.
What to Expect at Your Visit
A typical first appointment includes:
- Review of weight and health history
- Blood tests
- Consideration of weight-related tests
- Guided discussion of program options
- Review of research opportunities
Finding Your Weight Control Treatment Plan
You and your physician will review your weight trends and challenges from the past and present, as well as your current medical conditions and medications.
The physician will use individual preferences, weight/medical information, financial considerations, and other eligibility factors to help narrow down the choices of weight treatment programs. Additional testing or consultation may be required before making a final recommendation.
Appointment Information
