Cancer Patient & Family Support Services
Helping you and your family adjust to life with cancer
Providing the right support for cancer patients and their families starts with treating them like part of our own family. That's the commitment of the Patient & Family Support Services Program at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center. Our program provides evidence-based interventions that help people cope, including group therapy sessions, spiritual care, art therapy, music therapy, referrals to our experts in mental health, and other services.

Art Therapy
The emotions involved in coping with illness, treatment, living with uncertainty and meeting the challenges of everyday life are often difficult to describe in words. Making art that is meaningful to you can provide support that is creative and unique to your personal journey.
Famillies Facing Cancer
Because cancer affects everyone in a family, the U-M Rogel Cancer Center offers Families Facing Cancer, a program dedicated to helping children of all ages who have a loved one diagnosed with the disease.
Guided Imagery
Guided imagery is a gentle but powerful technique that focuses and directs the imagination. It's very helpful in alleviating stress and coping with the pain and discomfort of treatment.
Music Therapy
Music therapy is the use of music intervention to meet the physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs of an individual. Therapists are accomplished musicians and certified therapists.
Support Groups
Cancer support groups allow people with cancer, as well as those touched by it, to share feelings, experiences, tips and advice. The Rogel Cancer Center partners with community groups to offer a wide-range of topics.
Voices Art Gallery
The Voices Art Gallery was designed to give the opportunity to individuals to share their experiences in living with cancer. The artworks chosen to be displayed will tell individual stories, inspire, encourage and educate others who are experiencing cancer.
The University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center recognizes the power of the arts in the healing process. In creating artwork, each individual has the capacity to communicate through various media the experiences he/she has been through. The Voices Art Gallery was designed to give the opportunity to individuals to share their experiences in living with cancer. Learn more about the current show.
