Adult Anxiety Disorders Program
Adult Anxiety Disorders Program
The Adult Anxiety Disorders Program is committed to providing state-of-the-art treatment for anxiety disorders and maintaining scientific leadership in the psychobiological study of these disorders. Our Adult Anxiety Disorders Program helped pioneer the integration of behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and psychopharmacological treatments for anxiety disorders and became an early leader in the scientific exploration of the neurobiology of fear and panic. We are a multidisciplinary team of social workers, nurse practitioners, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists
Our Approach
We treat adults with different types of anxiety disorders. Please note that our services are mostly evaluation and consultation services. This means that we provide you with an assessment/evaluation and treatment recommendations. We then provide options as to where you can receive the recommended care. This is often to resources outside of U-M Health Psychiatry. Care within our clinic may be offered on a case-by-case basis. Factors that affect our ability to offer treatment include our clinician’s overall caseload availability, and also whether or not our clinical model of skills-focused and time-limited treatment is a good fit for the care you need.
Who We Treat
We see patients with these anxiety disorders and are committed to providing evidence-based treatments:
- Panic Disorder
- PTSD
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Social Phobia
- Specific Phobia
- Medication Management
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Research
We maintain close ties between our clinical and research endeavors, ensuring that our clinical work is always fully informed by the latest scientific advances and that our scientific efforts are informed by in-depth clinical understanding of the disorders we seek to understand. Our experts conduct psychobiological and treatment studies of anxiety disorders, and also study the general psychobiology of trauma, stress and anxiety as we seek to fully understand interactions between cognitive, emotional, and somatic processes as they shape human behavior and contribute to psychiatric disorders. Our Research Group includes a Basic Science Laboratory and is closely aligned with a Neuroimaging Laboratory.
