Research Overview
Dr. Dickson's research focus is the lung microbiome: microbial communities in the respiratory tract. By combining the techniques of microbial ecology with his expertise in respiratory pathophysiology, he studies how the lung microbiome is established in health and disrupted in disease. Dr. Dickson's work focuses on the common diseases of critical illness: pneumonia, sepsis and the acute respiratory distress syndrome.
