    Silas Norman, M.D., M.P.H., is a transplant nephrologist and Clinical Professor of Medicine and the Co-Medical Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation for University of Michigan Health. He also serves as the Medical Director of the Transplant Center Ambulatory Care Unit. Dr. Norman received his medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1996 and completed an Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 1999. He returned to the University of Michigan and completed his nephrology and transplant nephrology training in 2003. Dr. Norman subsequently completed a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Michigan in 2010. His research is focused on reducing health disparities in kidney transplantation and the evaluation of medical frailty.

    Clinical Specialization

    Dr. Norman’s clinical focus is on the care of pre- and post-kidney transplant patients. He cares for HIV+ patients following kidney transplantation and works with surgery in the care of liver transplant candidates with acute kidney injury. Dr. Norman sees patients in the Transplant Clinic at the Taubman Center as well as in our satellite clinics in Detroit, Grand Rapids and Traverse City.
