Elephant Ring Toss

How many rings can you get on the elephant’s trunk?

Adjust this game to fit your child’s age by making the line they toss from farther from or closer to the elephant stand.

What You’ll Need:

• Felt or heavy paper
• Scissors
• Paper towel rolls
• Glue
• Tape
• Googly/wiggle eyes
• Paint
• Permanent marker
• Masking tape

• Small plastic rings or shower curtain rings (optional)

  

Instructions:

Step 1: Have an adult help you draw an elephant shape face on the piece of felt or heavy paper (see above photo for guide, but you are trying to make a circle in the center with two “butterfly” wing shapes on each side for the elephant’s ears).

Step 2: Paint your paper towel rolls. One should match the color of your felt or heavy paper to serve as your elephant’s trunk and one can be any bright color.

Step 3: Attach the wiggle eyes as the elephant’s eyes in the circle portion of the face. Attach the paper towel roll in the same color as the felt right below and centered between the eyes as the elephant’s trunk (see above photo). Draw eyelashes on either side of the wiggle eyes (see above photo).

Step 4: If not using the shower curtain rings, cut the other paper towel roll horizontally into small rings. Other larger rings work best for this game, but you can certainly cut the other paper towel roll in a pinch like we did. Or try other objects you have around, such as cutting the centers out of paper plates.

Step 5: Place your elephant face on the ground and draw a masking tape line that the person tossing will stand behind. Adjust the line depending on child’s age. See how many rings you can make on the elephant’s trunk!
