About
Dr. Melissa Andersen received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Western Michigan University and her doctoral degree in school psychology with pediatric clinical emphasis from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She completed an internship in pediatric psychology neurodevelopmental disabilities at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR and her fellowship in pediatric psychology at the University of Michigan Health System. Dr. Andersen joined the faculty in the Inpatient Pediatric Psychology Consultation Liaison Program at the University of Michigan to expand the behavioral health services provided to hospitalized youth. She is particularly interested in prevention and treatment of feeding difficulties hospitalized infants and children, assisting medical teams and families with understanding the environmental and psychosocial variables impacting the behavior of young children with medical conditions, delivering empirically supported behavioral intervention for treatment of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient settings, and practices that protect and promote neurodevelopment of high risk hospitalized infants.
