  • About

Dr. Magge is a Clinical Professor of Neurosurgery and serves as the Surgical Director of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Program. His clinical practice encompasses all types of pediatric neurosurgery, with particular clinical and research interests in pediatric brain tumors, craniosynostosis (endoscopic and open surgery), and pediatric neurovascular disease (including AVM’s and moyamoya disease). His brain tumor research has focused on finding better treatments for diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPG’s) and methods for liquid biopsy. He has been involved in multicenter clinical trials. In the field of craniosynostosis, he has been the principal investigator of a multicenter trial examining long term outcomes of children with craniosynostosis treated with either endoscopic or open surgery. He also started the first endoscopic craniosynostosis surgery program in the Washington, DC area and helped to grow a busy craniosynostosis practice in California. He has authored numerous scholarly papers, and he is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. Dr. Magge works to find the best treatment for each patient in the least invasive method possible.

Dr. Magge grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he attended Harvard College for his undergraduate studies, where he majored in biochemistry. He then obtained his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, graduating in 2001. During medical school, he completed a 1 year Howard Hughes research fellowship at the NIH. August 23, 2025 - "We feel like we had the most excellent care we have ever received from Dr. Magge. He was attentive, caring, honest, and informative. He made us feel like part of the discussion with our daughter and made sure we had an unbiased opinion. He was considerate of our opinions and moved mountains to provide a standard of care that was exemplary. We honestly think that without Dr. Magge would still be searching for a diagnoses."

August 7, 2025 - "Dr Magge again didn't seem to know anything about our situation, was unaware that he previously saw us and didn't know he was the provider who ordered the [...] for my daughter. Again, very unorganized and disappointing."

May 20, 2025 - "Dr. Magge and [...] are the best. They handled my son's case better than I ever could have hoped [...] I couldn't be happier."
