Dr. Chaz Stucken is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology- Head & neck Surgery at the University of Michigan. He is dual-fellowship trained in both Head & Neck Cancer Surgery as well as Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Stucken completed an accelerated 7-year B.A./M.D. at Boston University, earning his M.D. in 2008. He subsequently completed his training in Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where he received the Chairman’s Award at the completion of residency. Dr. Stucken then earned sub-specialty fellowship training in Head & Neck Oncologic & Microvascular Surgery at the University of Michigan and in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Ohio State University. Throughout his training, Dr. Stucken received awards for excellence in research and clinical care. He has published several book chapters and scholarly articles in Otolaryngology texts and peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Stucken is involved in humanitarian outreach work and has travelled to Guatemala to perform cleft lip surgery. He is dedicated to serving Spanish-speaking patients in southeast Michigan. He has given numerous presentations at conferences around the country, taught at instructional courses for other surgeons, and has been an invited faculty member to symposium on facial plastic & reconstructive surgery. He is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery and the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He serves on several national committees including the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Committee, Microvascular Surgery Committee, and Humanitarian Efforts Committee.
Dr. Stucken is committed to providing the highest level of care to his patients. He is also working to discover medical and surgical breakthroughs by collaborating with other surgeons and researchers throughout the medical center. He works closely with Cutaneous Oncology Surgeons to provide optimal skin cancer treatments and reconstruction. As a member of the Comprehensive Head & Neck Cancer Team, he works closely with Medical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists and enrolls patients in the most advanced clinical trials. Surgically, his subspecialty training gives him the opportunity to provide specialized care for every patient in order to obtain the best possible outcomes.
