    Evan Glazer, MD, PhD, FACS, is the Clinical Director of the Pancreatic Cancer Program at Michigan Medicine and the Associate Director of Clinical Research in the Rogel and Blondy Center for Pancreatic Cancer.

    Dr. Glazer earned his medical degree and a master's degree in public health at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Subsequently, he completed residency in general surgery and completed a PhD in Cancer Biology at the University of Arizona, in Tucson, AZ. Dr. Glazer completed an NIH funded T32 training fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. He completed a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Dr. Glazer is board certified in complex general surgical oncology and general surgery. His clinical and research focuses are on pancreatic and liver malignancies.

    After completing fellowship in Tampa, Dr. Glazer joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, and rose in rank to Associate Professor. He served as program director of the complex general surgical oncology fellowship there as well as associate program director for research in the general surgery residency program.

    Dr. Glazer is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Association for Cancer Research, Society of Surgical Oncology, Association of Academic Surgery, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Rogel Cancer Center and the Rogel and Blondy Center for Pancreatic Cancer. With a national reputation, he has served on the Hepatobiliary Panel and Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Panel for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. He has served numerous roles for the Society of Surgical Oncology

    Research Overview

    Dr. Glazer's academic focus is on understanding what happens in cancer cells, especially pancreatic cancer cells, that drives them to spread and grow uncontrollably. He works with basic, translational, and clinical scientists to better understand cancer progression and identify targets for new treatments using cancers specimens from patients. He is a Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons. He has published over 100 journal articles and serves on the editorial board of multiple journals.
