Hayley Jane Centola, PhD

Hayley Centola, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan. She earned her bachelor's degree in Honors Psychology and French and Francophone Studies at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. As part of her training, she completed her doctoral internship and fellowship at the University of Chicago Medicine with an emphasis in pediatric psychology. During her fellowship, Dr. Centola trained in multiple pediatric specialty clinics providing treatment to youth with chronic health conditions. Dr. Centola is currently an attending psychologist within the Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Program where she is actively engaged in providing behavioral health services to youth with diabetes and conducting related research projects.

Dr. Centola’s focus of scholarly work has primarily been in the areas of program development and implementation and dissemination science, with specialized research experience in translating evidence-based practices to hospital, school, and community settings. She is also interested in the role of individual, family, and community strengths in the promotion of behavioral and physical health outcomes for youth who experience chronic health conditions, stress, and trauma.
