    Dr. Cuneo grew up in Northern California.  He studied Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.  Dr. Cuneo received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2007 and completed an internship there in 2008.  In 2008 he started his residency in Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center.  Dr. Cuneo has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan since 2012.

    Research Overview

    Dr. Cuneo performs preclinical and translation research in gastrointestinal malignancies. His laboratory research focuses on identifying and testing novel radiation sensitizers for hepatocellular carcinoma. Dr. Cuneo is also involved in translational studies related to biomarker discovery in pancreatic cancer. He is examining the use of diffusion weighted MRI, circulating tumor cells, and tumor derived exosomes as early treatment response markers.
