Research Overview
Dr. Fahim's research investigates dysfunction of the retinal pigment epithelial cells in inherited retinal diseases, and the impact of RPE dysfunction on the adjacent photoreceptors and choroidal vasculature. Her lab models choroideremia and other inherited retinal disease using induced pluripotent stem cells to elucidate disease mechanisms, discover therapeutic targets, and develop platforms for testing candidate treatments.
