About
Dr. Hamilton is the Cheryl Huey, M.D. Early Career Professor of Cardiac Surgery. She was raised in Canada, initially pursued a career as a musician, and is a veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University, and her Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music before turning her interests to a career in medicine. She continued her studies by earning her medical degree from Columbia University followed by a master’s degree from the University of California, San Francisco in epidemiology and biostatistics. She completed a surgical residency at UCSF and stayed for her fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery before joining us at the University of Michigan for advanced training in aortic surgery, where she stayed as faculty. She and her husband Tim are proud parents of two wonderful children. In her free time, she enjoys ultra-marathons and triathlons.

Aortic valve disease, aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections: all aortic diseases. Transcatheter aortic and aortic valve therapy (TEVAR and TAVR). Valvular disease. Coronary artery bypass grafting. Adult cardiac surgery.
