About
Dr. Ghada Abusin was born in the Sudan and grew up in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). She received her medical degree in 2001 from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. In 2003, Dr. Abusin moved to the United States. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey in Newark Beth Israel and pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship training at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. She joined the pediatric faculty at the University of Iowa after graduation in August 2011 and became the Co-Director of pediatric BMT program in 2012. During her time in Iowa, Dr. Abusin obtained both Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation and Certificate in Medical Education. Dr. Abusin is the recipient of the prestigious award 40 under 40 by the Corridor Business Journal in recognition of her contributions to pediatric bone marrow transplantation in the state of Iowa. Dr. Abusin is well known for her commitment and contributions to medical education for undergraduate students, medical students, pediatric residents and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows. She has served on the institutional review board (IRB) for human research for many years, exemplifying her understanding of the significance of research in medicine and the vital importance of protecting the rights and wellbeing of human life. Dr. Abusin joined the University of Michigan as a faculty member within the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program in the Department of Pediatrics in December 2016.
