About
Dr. Palmbos received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he graduated with honors in 2000. He completed his combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees as part of a NIH sponsored medical scientist training program at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2008. His graduate work focused on the nonhomologous endjoining pathway of DNA double strand break repair. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Michigan in 2010 and 2014 respectively. His clinical interest is genitourinary malignancies and he primarily sees patients with bladder and prostate cancers. His laboratory research focus is on bladder cancer and he is currently developing new preclinical models of bladder cancer and focusing on the role of a novel oncogene, ATDC, in bladder tumor development. He recently received American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Young Investigator and Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) Young Investigator awards and has an NIH K08 award to develop his research program.
