About
John O. L. DeLancey, MD is the Norman F. Miller Professor of Gynecology at the University of Michigan Medical School and Director of Pelvic Floor Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He graduated from Oberlin College with Honors in Biology and the University of Michigan Medical School where he also did his residency training and has been on faculty since then. A native of Ann Arbor, he and his wife enjoy hiking in the mountains and spending time with their 3 children and two grandchildren. He as also greatly enjoyed traveling the world presenting at conferences and meeting people from different cultures.

Research Overview
Dr. DeLancey and the University of Michigan Pelvic Floor Research Group that he founded with James Ashton-Miller and Janis Miller has won many international awards for their research. They have made important discoveries about the injuries that occur during birth that leading to pelvic floor disorders, defined the specific problems with the muscles and ligaments resulting in incontinence and prolapse, and are developing new strategies for preventing, diagnosing and treating these common problems that are tailored to the specific problems that a patient has.
