Reema Hasan, MD

Dr. Reema Hasan, MD, is a heart failure and transplant cardiologist who currently sees patients at University of Michigan Health Frankel Cardiovascular Center in Ann Arbor and the U-M Northville Health Center. Dr. Hasan enjoys the chance to make a positive impact in the lives of her patients and chose her specialty for the chance to form long-lasting relationships with these patients. Trilingual in English, French and Arabic, Dr. Hasan is working on learning Spanish and Italian and tries to travel whenever possible. Before joining the cardiology team at University of Michigan Health, Dr. Hasan received her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan and then completed her cardiology fellowship at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. She then subsequently completed her subspecialty training in Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant at the University of Michigan. She believes that this diverse background, starting on an island with a 30-mile radius to passing through urban and suburban centers, has helped her understand a diverse patient population and has allowed her to become the physician she is today. She values the importance of the doctor-patient relationship and patient and family centered care.

Dr. Hasan’s research focuses on gender differences in cardiac medicine. With the belief that women are often understudied, she looks into the different ways women respond to therapies. Her future research will focus around heart failure and gender.
