    Alexandra Shingina, MD, MSc, is the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation and an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at U-M Health. She completed her undergraduate degree and medical school at McGill University, followed by her Internal Medicine Residency at the University of British Columbia. She completed her Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Toronto, where she also received a Master’s in clinical Epidemiology. She completed her Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Washington.

    Dr. Shingina's clinical interests focus on caring for people suffering from chronic liver disease, as well as improving access to liver transplantation for people with end-stage liver disease. She sees patients in the Hepatology Clinic at the University of Michigan Northville Health Center and the Transplant Clinic at the Taubman.

    She is involved in multiple national and international professional societies and is a co-chair of the AST Multiorgan Transplant Subcommittee, and member-at-large for ILTS VANGUARD Committee, AASLD Women's Initiative Committee, AST Women's Health Committee, and UNOS Living Donor Committee. Dr. Shingina also serves on the Editorial Board for Liver Transplantation Journal. She has been the recipient of multiple awards, including the 2022 VUMC DOM Award for Outstanding Contribution in Professional Development for her Women in Medicine Initiative at VUMC, the 2022 GI Division Outstanding Teacher Award, and the 2021 American Gastroenterology Association Marie Leo-Lieber Scholarship, among others.
