Adam Lewno is an Assistant Professor in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at University of Michigan.  Dr. Lewno earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Northwestern University while competing on the varsity swimming team. Following his undergraduate career he continued to swim while also coaching both age group, high school, and national level swimmers before he obtained his medical degree at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed his internship and physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) where he was the co-director of the UPMC Mercy Internal Medicine Osteopathic education, team physician for University of California Pennsylvania, and a founding member of EMBRACE, an amputee dance initiative.  Dr Lewno then came to Michigan as part of the University of Michigan’s Sports Medicine Fellowship where he was an acting team physician for both University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University while also completing University of Michigan’s Family Medicine Faculty Development Institute certification program for medical educators. He continues his passion for taking care of athletes as a team physician for Eastern Michigan University, consultant to MPerform, and as a volunteer national team physician for USA Swimming.

Dr Lewno’s medical practice focuses on non-surgical management of sports medicine conditions as well as disorders of joints, tendon, and nerves. He has a particular clinical interest in endurance athletes, performing artists, and the application of musculoskeletal ultrasound for complicated and challenging diagnoses. His goal is simple: help you get back to activities you are passionate about.
