Dr. Lieberman is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pathology.
Dr. Lieberman received a BA from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio and an M.D. from The Uniform Services, University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed an internship and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the United States Air Force Medical Center, Keesler Airforce Base (Mississippi). Following an overseas tour of duty with the USAF, in 1990 he initiated residency training in Anatomic Pathology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and subsequently completed a Fellowship in Gynecologic Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Lieberman served as a physician with the U.S. Air Force, Medical Corps from 1979-1996. During this period he served as Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology at RAF Upper Heyford in the United Kingdom, was appointed Adjunct Clinical Instructor of Pathology and Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Uniformed Services of Health Sciences in Bethesda. Upon retirement from the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Lieberman joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1997.
Dr. Lieberman is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Anatomic Pathology.
Areas of Practice
Clinically, Dr. Lieberman specializes in providing diagnostic evaluations and management recommendations for women and LGBTQ patients with HPV-related abnormalities of the lower genital tract. As a gynecologic pathologist, he supports Women's Health by providing diagnostic and consultation services for specimens generated here or at other facilities.

Research Overview
Dr. Lieberman has a background in informatics, imaging, gynecology and pathology, and has worked with a diverse group of researchers campus-wide and in the private sector. His research topics vary from placental findings in failure to thrive to HPV expression in a variety of tumors. One project has resulted in a Patent for a new technology in Pathology.
