About
Dr. Arizaca, a graduate of Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru, completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Prior to joining Michigan Medicine, she worked in a longitudinal and accountable care Internal Medicine practice in San Antonio, TX for more than twelve years, where she was also part of the clinical leadership team, specializing in comprehensive geriatric care.
Dr. Arizaca is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Obesity Medicine
Besides managing a busy internal medicine practice, she has been successfully seeing patients and leading the internal medicine branch of the Weight Navigation Program, a multidisciplinary obesity medicine practice in primary care at the University of Michigan. With a particular interest in the management of type 2 diabetes and a goal to treat excess adiposity like a chronic disease, she has collaborated with the American Diabetes Association in developing educational materials for healthcare providers.
Dr. Arizaca is passionate about advocating for the recognition of excess adiposity as a chronic medical condition and improving health insurance coverage for new and successful treatments for this disease. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for her patients. In her leisure time, she enjoys competitive ballroom dancing and spending time with her husband and son.
