Jonathon Alexander Hagel, MB BCH BAO, MPH

Dr. Hagel obtained his undergraduate degree with honors specialization in physiology at Western University in Ontario, Canada and then went on to receive his medical degree in Ireland at the University College Cork where he was awarded the title of College Scholar for honors distinction. He completed pediatric residency training at SickKids/University of Toronto, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School followed by an additional year of focused interventional cardiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hagel became faculty at the University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center in 2022 where he is an interventional cardiologist in the Congenital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and attends on the general cardiology service.

Dr. Hagel’s clinical and research interests include transcatheter management of heart disease in high-risk patients with a focus on pulmonary vein stenosis and pulmonary hypertension. He is also investigating the impact of socioeconomic status on outcomes following surgical and transcatheter interventions for congenital heart disease.
