Jeffrey Berinstein MD, MSc is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Michigan. He specializes in caring for patients with inflammatory bowel disease and is a member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at the University of Michigan.
Dr. Berinstein earned his Bachelor Degree in Biologic at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada). He earned his Medical Degree at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology (Haifa, Israel). He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).
His research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease, which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. He is specifically interested in 1) improving access to high-cost speciality medications and healthcare services, 2) the effect of out-of-pocket costs, high-deductible health plans, and insurance type on medication access, adherence, and outcomes for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, and 3) developing optimal management strategies for patients admitted to the hospital with acute severe ulcerative colitis.
