Ann Marie Ramsey, NP

Ann Marie Ramsey is the outpatient nurse practitioner in the Pediatric Home Ventilator and Respiratory Support program and the coordinator of the Spinal Muscular Atrophy program. Ann Marie has worked with children with both ventilation needs and neuromuscular disease since joining the university in 1992, first in her role as otolaryngology nurse practitioner and since 2003 in her role as program coordinator. Ann Marie is a strong patient safety advocate and has dedicated the last several years to educating home care nursing staff on the care of children requiring tracheotomy and ventilator support. She joined with the Pediatric Home Ventilator team to develop and evaluate a simulation based training program for home care staff. The results of that project were published in 2018 in Pediatric Pulmonology. Ann Marie is a member of both the National and Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She serves as program chair for the state of Michigan. Ann Mare has volunteered at Trails Edge Camp for Ventilator Dependent Children since 2004 first as a partner, then as cabin nurse and most recently as camp medical staff. Ann Marie enjoys spending time with her two adult daughters and her husband as well as taking long walks with her two little Shih Tzu’s.
