About
Dr. Heung graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine. After finishing his Internal Medicine training at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals, he completed Fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Michigan Health System. He has been a member of the University of Michigan faculty since 2005, and currently serves as Associate Division Chief for Clinical Affairs in the Division of Nephrology. His primary clinical and research interests are in the areas of acute kidney injury and critical care nephrology.

Pathophysiology and management of acute kidney injury, particularly in the ICU setting; Aspects of continuous renal replacement therapy, including dose, regional citrate anticoagulation, and safety issues; Other extracorporeal therapies; Cardiorenal syndrome and ultrafiltration in the management of heart failure; Identification of biomarkers in the diagnosis and management of acute kidney injury.
