About
Dr. Christina Cwynar is a dual-certified pediatric and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She obtained her doctorate in nursing practice from Rush University as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 2016, and her post-graduate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from the University of Michigan. She has worked on the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Consult-Liaison Service at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital since 2016. She has been an integral part in expanding mental health services at the intersection of physical and mental health. She is an active member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She is currently serving as the co-chair of the immunization special interest group. She is also co-chairing the planning committee for the Michigan chapter of NAPNAP. She has been a featured speaker on TeamPeds Talks, 50Forward, and HealthyWomen and Great Girlfriends. She has been published in the Journal of Pediatric Health Care and The Clinical Advisor. She has spoken nationally at the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the Society of Pediatric Nurses. She has spoken locally, regionally, and nationally on various topics including immunizations, immunization-associated pain, the COVID vaccine, eating disorders, mental health, psychopharmacology, infant abductions, and pediatric anxiety. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she is an assistant professor at Rush University in the DNP program for primary care pediatric nurse practitioners. Dr. Cwynar is also one of the three hosts of the Breaking Down Mental Health Podcast on the Michigan Medicine Podcast Network.
