Kahli E Zietlow, MD

Kahli Zietlow earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Michigan. She attended medical school, internal medicine residency, and geriatrics fellowship at Duke University, as well as an advanced fellowship in geriatrics at the Durham VA Medical Center. After matriculation from Duke, she joined the U of M division of geriatrics in 2020.

She is currently the fellowship program director of the geriatric medicine fellowship and director of interprofessional education at the medical school. She participates in clinical research on the topics of guardianship and surrogacy decision-making in patients living with dementia. In 2023, she was awarded a Geriatrics Academic Career Award (GACA) that will support participation in interdisciplinary medical education and research on characterizing the population of older adults under guardianship and advocating for their needs.

My areas of research interest include capacity assessments, surrogate decision-making, and guardianship in older adults with cognitive impairment. I am also involved in medical education, including education-related research.
