About
Dr. Castillo completed her undergraduate studies at University of Michigan and completed her medical degree at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine in Rochester, MN. She returned to Michigan to pursue a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at University of Michigan. She currently practices as a dual hospitalist, caring for both adults and children. She has also pursued additional training in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine and is involved in the Breastfeeding and Lactation Program at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. In addition to Lactation and Breastfeeding Medicine, her clinical interests include hospital medicine, improving quality and safety of care provided to patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP), and improving access to equitable care to all individuals. As a hospitalist, she finds it an immense honor to connect with patients and their families, providing support and humanistic and individualized care during the stressful period of hospitalization. She is a native Ukrainian speaker, is fluent in Spanish, and also has proficiency in French and Russian. In her free time, Dr. Castillo enjoys exploring the beautiful local trails with her family and plant-based cooking and baking.

Research Overview
Dr. Castillo has been involved in several research and quality improvement projects related to breastfeeding care and breastfeeding education. She is committed to advancing the field of Breastfeeding Medicine through research and improving education of medical providers across specialties. Her research interests include interventions to support breastfeeding families, lactation physiology, interventions to improve medical provider education regarding breastfeeding and lactation, and optimizing lactation in medically complex and hospitalized patients.
