    Dr. Shelgikar completed her medical degree at Wayne State University, neurology residency at Emory University and sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Utah. Dr. Shelgikar completed her Master’s in Health Professions Education at the University of Michigan and has long-standing focus on medical education, particularly in competency-based education and assessment, curriculum design and program evaluation. She leads a program to assess progress made by University of Michigan medical students in a nationally innovative, competency-based approach to the clinical training years. Dr. Shelgikar serves as program director for the University of Michigan’s sleep medicine fellowship, which is one of the largest in the country. Dr. Shelgikar is also involved in leadership of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and AASM Foundation.

    Dr. Shelgikar's clinical interests include multidisciplinary approaches to care for patients with sleep disorders, sleep deprivation, and sleep disorders in patients who are pregnant.
