About
Dr. Russell is from a northern suburb of Chicago, IL. He attended Washington University in St. Louis where he received his B.A. in Film & Media Studies and his Masters in Public Health. He attended University of Illinois at Chicago for medical school and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. During his residency training, he was drawn towards working in clinic where he valued getting to know patients on a more personal level than can often be afforded in a busy hospital setting. He found that understanding his patients’ values allowed him to better help his patients make complicated medical decisions around managing multiple diseases while maintaining quality of life. He was drawn to geriatrics & palliative care because he found these specialties particularly well-suited for providing patient-centered medicine.
He cares about expanding access to quality geriatric medicine to populations from diverse communities and backgrounds, as well as expanding access to outpatient palliative care to all patients with serious illness. In his free time, he enjoys being with family and friends, camping, hiking, watching foreign films, reading, and listening to music. Since moving to Ann Arbor, he has been picking up gravel biking, rowing, and cross-country skiing.
