About
Dr. May Chan is a Professor of Pathology and Dermatology at the University of Michigan. She earned her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She then pursued a Dermatopathology fellowship at Harvard before joining the University of Michigan as a faculty member in Dermatopathology and Surgical Pathology. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory in the Department of Pathology.
Dr. Chan’s clinical and research interests encompass inflammatory skin diseases, melanocytic lesions, cutaneous adnexal neoplasms, and immunohistochemistry. She has authored/co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, as well as the AFIP Atlas of Pathology: Non-Neoplastic Disorders of Skin (fifth series) and the Handbook of Direct Immunofluorescence: A Pattern-Based Approach to Skin and Mucosal Biopsies. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, serves on the editorial board of Modern Pathology, and is a member of the Dermatopathology Test Development and Advisory Committee at the American Board of Pathology.
