    Rebecca J. Vartanian, MD is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine She received her bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College prior to attending Wayne State School of Medicine for her medical degree. After she completed her Pediatrics residency and Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship at the University of Michigan, she stayed to join the faculty in 2010.

    Dr. Vartanian is involved in several interdisciplinary projects to improve both the quality of care and the short and long-term outcomes for infants admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Such projects have included optimizing neonatal nutrition, reducing severe retinopathy of prematurity, and improving outcomes for infants born extremely premature. She is involved in improvement work nationally through efforts supported by the Vermont Oxford Network.

    Research Overview

    Dr. Vartanian is involved in implementing and over-seeing quality improvement initiatives in the NICU, including, improvement in neonatal nutrition, nosocomial infection, and discharge management for very low birth weight infants.
