Dr. Khateeb is the Associate Medical Director for Trinity Affiliates, for the University of Michigan Medical Group (UMMG) comprised of more than 2,000 physicians and health professionals in 20 clinical specialties practicing in inpatient and outpatient settings, and at affiliated health systems throughout the state of Michigan. In this role, Dr. Khateeb acts as the clinical liaison facilitating the growth of collaborations between Michigan Medicine and regional Trinity facilities to better serve patients in our community.
Dr. Khateeb is passionate about patient experience, enhancing access and improving efficiency of care through regional and national health system collaborations. In her previous role as Medical Director for the Michigan St Joes service/10 East Medicine Unit, she successfully launched a 26-bed unit at St Joseph Mercy Hospital (St Joe’s), Ann Arbor, where Michigan Medicine Hospitalists and Geriatricians collaborate with St Joe’s specialists and staff to care for patients in the community. Close to 3000 patients have been transferred from Michigan Medicine Emergency Department to be cared for on this unit since launch in Sept 2018, and have benefited from this unique collaboration through improved access and high quality care in a comfortable community setting.
Dr. Khateeb has been a faculty at Michigan Medicine since 2008, and serves as the Director of Clinical Strategy for the Division of Hospital Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. She earned her Medical Degree from Damascus University (Syria), and her Masters of Business Administration from University of Michigan, 2017. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, MI, in 2007. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and in addition to practicing as a hospitalist, she practices as a Palliative Care consultant in the inpatient setting.
Dr. Khateeb is fluent in Arabic. She enjoys playing indoor soccer, running, and wakeboarding.
