    Dr. Christina Jagielski is a clinical health psychologist in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Michigan Medicine. Dr. Jagielski utilizes evidence-based treatment approaches for a range of gastrointestinal conditions including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, relaxation training and gut-directed hypnosis. Focuses of treatment include decreasing the intensity and frequency of GI symptoms, adjustment to living with a chronic medical condition, health behavior change including behavioral changes for sleep, and improving quality of life. Dr. Jagielski offers a compassionate and empathetic style with a flexible approach to treatment. She has a particular interest in working with patients with a history of trauma, as well as creative individuals.

    Professionally, Dr. Jagielski served on the Michigan Psychological Association’s Insurance Committee with a particular interest in expanding access to mental health care for the underinsured. She is also a member of the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI).

    Research Overview

    Dr. Jagielski’s research interests include the role psychological trauma plays in gastrointestinal (GI) health and the development of a trauma-informed care model for patients with GI conditions, the role of sleep and GI health, as well as Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
